A lot of students think they are one missing credential away from finally becoming employable. Maybe it is another internship. Another certification. A stronger resume. Better networking. More applications. So they keep applying. Keep refreshing LinkedIn. Keep trying to decode what employers actually want from people who are supposedly “entry level” but somehow already expected to have experience.

A lot of students are tired in a way that is difficult to explain to people who are not going through this right now. Not lazy tired or “I stayed up too late” tired. A deeper kind of tired. Psychologically tired. The kind of exhaustion that comes from putting real effort into your future while still feeling uncertain about whether any of it is actually leading somewhere.

Students are doing exactly what they were told to do: get good grades, build a resume, apply online, network on LinkedIn, repeat. Yet a huge number of them are hearing nothing back. No interviews, little feedback, sometimes not even rejection emails. After a while, that silence starts to feel personal.

We are entering a different kind of economy, one where many of the traditional rules around careers no longer feel reliable. Students and early-career professionals are navigating rising uncertainty, changing hiring practices, AI disruption, and a labor market that increasingly rewards practical experience over credentials alone.
