“Treat the earth well. It was not given to you by your parents—it was loaned to you by your children.” — Native American Proverb
Today’s recognition and celebration of Earth Day 2017 is a time for MobilizeGreen’s friends and supporters to reflect on the rich heritage and diversity of people of color who have traditionally “lived off the land” with a view of themselves as one with, and protectors of, the environment – the earth, air, water, and all living things.
A key to MobilizeGreen’s mission is preserving this heritage and creating the next generation of environmental stewards. That’s why MobilizeGreen fights everyday to make sure that every young person has access to conservation and environmental career opportunities.
To commemorate Earth Day 2017, MobilizeGreen is asking each of you to show your commitment to the earth by taking an action to protect our land. Whether you commit to conserve more water or energy, use public transportation or bike to school or work, or to clean up your neighborhood this year, your action will help continue the legacy of environmental stewardship that comes from generations of people who understand the importance of protecting and preserving our lands.
“The earth is what we all have in common.” Wendell Berry Author, farmer, cultural critic
On behalf of our MobilizeGreen family, I am wishing you a Happy Earth day!
